Quick lunch was the plan but that did not happen! We went to Orange Wok, in Nungambakkam, above “The Raymond Store”. A side staircase leads you up to the place, which has both indoor and outdoor seating.
The place is made up with simple solid colours yet with quirky light lamps. From the menu, we ordered a konjee crispy lamb, prawns cooked in chilli sauce, a pan fried noodles and a Thai red curry. We also ordered a hot milo from the beverages menu.
The wait for food might seem long if you are hungry but the dishes followed in consistently once the first starter came in.
The Konjee lamb was the first to come in, this dish was a complete let down in comparison with everything else we ordered, the lamb was cooked with black bean, chilli and hoisin sauce, the meat was very tough and had no taste hint of lamb.
But, the prawn cooked in chilli sauce was top notch! The prawns were juicy and the gravy was super spicy. The taste of the masala was different and so good that more than the prawns I was responsible for the clean plate leaving alone the prawns.
The pan fried noodles lost in competition with the Thai red curry! What surprised me was the staff exclusively asked if we want the sauce spicy but still it simply did not even cross the border line of being spicy 😦
Nevertheless though bland the saucy noodles with meat did well. For someone who loves saucy noodles, the sauce was insufficient for the quantity of noodles.
I reached my maximum capacity for lunch but the hot Thai red curry and steaming white rice tempted me to taste a little 😉 and it was a good decision. It tasted very authentic than the exclusive Thai places.
The total bill summed to INR 1722 for three of us, the quantity is more than sufficient to fill you up for a nice nap! But reality hit and had to head back to office 😀
I had recently gone here. Loved the food 👌
