The new vegetarian and vegan place in Alwarpet, Chennai opened a while back and I wanted to see for myself how this place has fared despite the mixed reviews. This place is on the same lane as Ashvita Bistro. The restaurant has only a small parking space, so only a maximum of three cars and a few two wheeler can be parked.
The outdoor seating is a hit, where the tables are put in a way where there are plants on both the sides, for someone who loves nature will not even bother to notice the inside seating, unless it is a hot afternoon.
For a place which promises Vegan options, I expected something more innovative, from a bare reading, I couldn’t make out the vegan options at all!
The only thing new on the menu I evidently found was the Zucchini chips. My friends had ordered Brushetta before I came. And for the mains: Aglio Olio and Buffalo Mozzarella thin crust pizza.
The Brushetta, had very dry bread, no cheese but butter was served in a cup. The Zucchini chips was something I was very apprehensive of because I thought it would get soggy! But they managed to keep it crisp and it was served with two mayo dips! The only downside was the excess oil present in the chips.
Aglio olio tasted like how one makes it at home, the Spaghetti should have been more soft! but everything else feel in place, the olive oil and the herbs. There was not much cheese but it’s absence was not missed much.
The pizza was requested to be made spicy, so they chopped green chilies in our pizza. However the chili flakes, melted cheese and thin base made a good combination!!
The bill came to INR 1100 which seems nominal. Overall, the place has lovely ambiance but the food can be remarked as only “average”. I sincerely hope they improve their food.
