This very small place ‘eggies’ is located in Kodambakkam High road, near kodambakkam bridge. The place is in bright yellow and white to personify their egg specialization. Though the place is really tiny, the walls are put up with charcoal drawings on one side and cartoons on the other picturing the age old question “Which came first? the egg? or the chicken?”
The menu is simple yet they have burgers, omelettes, skewers, shawarma, sandwich, wraps, mocktails and beverages.
We ordered a cheese omelette, peri peri shawarma, cheese garlic bread, angry chicken wheat burger and lime mint mocktail. We need to order on the counter but the food is served to us. The person taking the order had a kind smile and took our orders patiently. He duly informed us about the extreme spiciness in shawarma and the burger.
The omelette was the first to arrive, light yellow with cheese tucked inside and a hint of the herbs sprinkled on top. This was the best dish! and it did get over before I blinked 🙂
The rest took a while to come, the peri peri shawarma, was spicy as he promised but lacked the juiciness every good shawarma has right from the chicken to the other vegetable stuffings. It came with pickled carrot pieces and the quantity was a disappointment.
The burger was very different when it came to the patty! the patty was not fried but cooked and put together and held together by the bun. They have choice of plain, wheat and multi grain bread for the burger bun.
The lime and mint mocktail was a real refresher! the freshness of mint and lime was present throughout the drink. And after all this I was still hungry and we got Cheese garlic bread, the cheese is charged separately and garlic bread separately. The garlic bread was sweet and salt less, but it tastes much better with chili sauce spread all over it!!
The total bill came to INR 450/-, the place is totally pocket friendly and can be stopped over for some quick food!
