The Padrino located in P.S. Sivaswami Salai, Mylapore is very easy to spot! Right in the main road they have adequate parking space which leaves us with no worry about parking our vehicle. They have outdoor and air conditioned indoor seating. As you entre they have a gelato counter and a pastry counter!

Comfortable sofas are lined at the corner of the restaurant, high chairs on one side and normal table with brass coloured chairs on the other side! Walls are adorned with “Godfather” themed boards as well as the origin and history of gelato. There are black boards with colourful writings or drawings which makes the place very attractive.

We got a complimentary vanilla drink immediately after we ordered. They have separate menus for beverages and food. Never in my wildest dreams have I dreamed of ordering salad because of health reasons! Anyway we ordered a Caesar’s salad and Rape Noci E caprino. From the beverages, Passion fruit mojito and latte Arabica grande.

The latte was served with two cookies which surprised me and made me rejoice like a kid! Latte was strong and we are given the options of sugar (brown, normal, sugar free) we want to add to it. The mojito served in a mason jar had the refreshing fruit flavour with mint leaves, sprite and ice cubes.IMG_20160815_122056713

Caesar’s came first with fresh and crisp lettuce, sun dried tomatoes and thin dryly cut parmesan cheese, with minimal amount of mayonnaise forming the last base, though the menu said mustard sauce, there was no hint of it!

The other salad came along with cubes of beetroot, finely sliced green apple, walnuts, crumbs of feta cheese, croutons all basked in olive oil and vinegar. Both the salads had very crisp baked garlic bread served along. All the salad was definitely very lite and healthy! All the health freaks can try them out without worrying about calories!

Sadly, they informed us that they had ran out of all the antipasti :/ when we wanted bruschetta! Deviating heavily from the rules we are supposed to follow while dining, we ordered a Mexicano nachos pizza which had roasted capsicum, olives, tomatoes, jalapenos, mozzarella cheese topped with nachos and Mexican cheese! The only thing unique about the pizza was the nachos placed above the pizza!

The person who attended to us always had a smile on his face and very kindly asked us if we mind shifting to a two seater from a six seater because of the huge crowd waiting outside, the chairs weren’t very comfortable but we did not mind much! In the excitement of meeting with my friend I missed to ask his name but the only feedback I would want to give him is to speak with clarity in the future, I would never forget him because he was very concerned why we were having only salad! Asking us about our main course, dessert and about all other small details.

the bill box!!

The café was very pleasant when we first came in but the place filled up very fast and since the tables are close to each other, we wanted to get out because of the loud and constant jibber and jabber. I will definitely come back here to try their gelato and other dishes! Prices are slightly on the expensive side but the place is all worth it!
