Amongst the bustling joints all opened apt for youngsters in Besant Nagar is this family place for a vegetarian meal. When we visited this place on a weekend, we were lucky we found a few empty tables the restaurant was packed in the next few minutes.
Even before I start about the food, I need to give a special mention to the serving staff there, it was their peak hours where everyone wanted a the menu card, water, take orders, when their food will come, finger bowls, bills and what not but they were fast and very efficient on top of it they did it all with a big smile!!
Now, the food, a simple meal with vegetable koftha, the person taking the order told us honestly that malai koftha is very bland and asked us to opt for the vegetable koftha since we were looking for something spicy. You can customize it and ask him to make it even spicier.
From Indian breads, we chose plain paratha and chili garlic mint naan. The food took us a while to arrive, the vegetable koftha made us wonder if we should have asked the hotel staff to make it spicier! The koftha was not over the top, but nonetheless bad either. I loved the chili garlic mint naan! All the flavours promised was present and I could it eat it just like that even without the subzi.
We ended our meal with a chocolate vanilla ice cream with dry fruits, their presentation took me back a few years, presented with a cherry on the top with wafers on the sides!
The portion given is value for money and impeccable service, a good family place to go to but their taste did not sweep me off my feet.
